Terrorized Consumers

Before December begins and the shinny lights start flooding our streets, take a look to The Surplus, a powerful waking-up work directed and produced by Erik Gandini.

In November 2003 'The Surplus: Terrorized Into Being Consumers' was awarded with the prestigious documentary prize, The Silver Wolf at Amsterdam's IDFA, and has spread widely around the globe.

This version is mainly in English, with Spanish Subtitles.

As the credit crunch bites and a global economic crisis threatens, the following documentary reveals how the super-rich have made their fortunes, and the small investors and tax payers are picking up the bill.

See here how the private-equity partners, and the hedge-fund managers were all using other people’s money for their deals, into a system that is allowing them, for example, to transform poor quality loans into 'high quality investments'. And, while enjoying the enormous returns, they couldn't help leveraging more and bigger deals, due their greed and the money available at low interest rates.

To Evolve

Evolution and ♥ labels begin with a fragment of Richard Linklater's movie 'Waking Live', wondering why human evolution seems to had been on hold for so long.

The cut is questioning some of our actual society values, and points out to one of the reasons why we are stuck in the same loop, for so many centuries.

'In a broad scope, Waking Life is about a young man in a persistent lucid dream-like state. The young man eventually comes to realize the possibility that the reason he is unable to wake up is because he is dead' ... But he isn't.

What will happen in 2012?

This question is being repeated more often, as our days are passing by.

The fact is that, during our time, an awesome cosmic alignment which happens just every 26,000 years, will take place.

What about the end of the Mayan calendar? The end of times and many other prophecies? Is a new age or a planetary ascension coming? Will we experience the awakening of a new conscience?

The seek for such answers starts bringing something from our side. It may be to wonder honestly about our actual world and challenge the direction we are driven, to have the courage to discover ourselves and our real potential... Whatever you decide.

On this path, perhaps we will find the right questions.

Did you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?

If you see her moving clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice-versa. Most of the people would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise, to the left. Though you can try to focus for a while and change the direction. See if you can do it!

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS:
Uses logic, analytical, detail oriented, facts rule, words and language, present and past, math and science, can comprehend, knowing, organized, acknowledges, order/pattern perception, knows object name, reality based, scientific, deatached, sequential, forms strategies, practical, repetitive, precise, literal, safe...

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS:
Uses feeling, "big picture" oriented, imagination rules, symbols and images, present and future, philosophy & religion, can "get it" (i.e. meaning), conceptual, believes, imaginative, intuitive, appreciates, spatial perception, knows object function, irregular, fantasy based, heuristic, empathetic, figurative, presents possibilities, impetuous, creative, risk taking...

Would say that if you see the dancer spinning in one way, you should try to develop the habilities related with the other side of your brain.

If this really works, and you see her spinning in both directions or you're able to make the figure turn the other way around, realise that your brain is close to equilibrium between hemispheres. This doesn't mean that you are an enchanced human, rather would say a bit especial.

If this is the case you already have a balanced brain, an uncommon and probably gained attribute, which will put you in a better position for developing more of your potential. What doesn't say the test is how far are you on this path.

Anyway, as one friend once wisely said: Always remember that you are unique, just like everybody else. For sure you already know it, the problem is not to forget it.

Fastwalkers: UFO files

Zeitgeist, the documentary

Zeitgeist full 1½h movie - Spanish Subtitles

With this post 'the mystery' and 'socioeconomy' labels begin. First one is especially related to Zeitgeist's initial part. And 'socioeconomy' to the last two parts here below.

Part 1: "The Greatest Story Ever Told"
Zeitgeist seeks to persuade its viewers that the authors of the New Testament borrowed the idea of Jesus' virgin birth, disciples, miracles, crucifixion, and resurrection from ancient pagan mystery religions that were around long before the time of Christ.

Part 2: "All The World's Stage"
19 Hijackers, directed by Osama Bin Laden, took over 4 commercial Jets with box cutters and, while evading the Air Defense System, (NORAD), hit 75% of their targets. In turn, World Trade Towers 1, 2 & 7 collapsed due to structural failure through fire in a “pancake” fashion, while the plane that hit the Pentagon vaporized up on impact, as did the plane that crashed in Shanksville. The 911 Commission found that there were no warnings for this act of Terrorism, while multiple government failures prevented adequate defense.

Part 3: "Don't mind the men behind the curtain"
This episode discusses the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913 and how it was against the intentions of US nation’s founders as it gave control of the country´s currency to a few bankers instead of to the federal government. And interesting point is that the way our federal reserve is structured encourages war. The film discusses how World War 1, World War 2 and Vietnam were started and how they benefited the banking industry. These bankers have used their power to manipulate markets including intentionally causing stock crashes and depressions.
