Macro-Economy in the 20th Century and Beyond

This excellent documentary is a 6 hours detailed journey into world's macro-economy, by William Cran and Daniel Yergin. A highly valuable exploration about how, first regionally or at country level, and then globaly, our economy has been forged.

Starting with the initial seventy years of the past century, the first episode goes through the Big Depressions, World Wars, and the Stalin's Soviet Union. Having very present Karl Marx, John Maynard Keynes and Friedrich von Hayek ideas and predictions.

The second part takes us into the western deficits, inflations and doubts; the communist collapse, the South American dictatorships and the African regimes. Exposing the consumist boom, and the dilemmas about privatisation or nationalisation of the main economic engines, structures and industries.

And the final one, having always the freemarkets revolution on mind, looks at the Asian great crisis, the problems that faced and are still facing the developing and under-developed countries, and analyzes the actual globalisation driven by the United States.
